The Nikkai 7″ TV
A very popular little monitor that’s ideal for desks, and supports playback of media from a USB memory stick.
This works well for reception of Freeview, can cope with a “line in” AV feed from a DVD player, or a digital TV set-top box, and can be powered from mains or from a car cigar lighter socket.
This unit can play music and video via a USB socket on the side, and can also be used as a digital photo frame. It comes with a portable digital TV antenna, although you’ll get best results when connecting to a rooftop TV aerial.

No channels found
Matt Spicer reported problems getting the Nikkai to find channels:
“I bought a Nikkai 7inch TV, plugged into main TV to access all channels no problem but as soon as I disconnect & try to find them using the antenna it comes up with no signal,as this is in my house I’m not convinced that taking it outside to find a signal would be any better,after all that’s where I want to use it! Please help!”
First off, now that analogue TV in the UK no longer operates, you need to make sure this unit is set to “DTV” (Digital TV). Do the following:
- Connect a TV aerial that’s capable of getting Freeview
- Press the ‘Mode’ button on the remote until you get to “DTV”
- Press Menu, and scroll to “Setup”
- Select “Installation” – you should see the following screen
- Press “OK” to scan for channels
The TV should scan for channels and you’ll see a list of channels found. If the scan doesn’t show any results, check you’ve set the Installation to English, and that the TV aerial is correctly connected. If there are still no channels found – double-check that the TV aerial is capable of getting a decent Freeview signal.

I have this tv but recently the fault I’m getting is sound but no picture?? Everything seems to be in Dutch too?? Can’t bring anything on screen like the menu because it’s either a white screen or black?? Any ideas??

Hi I have the 10.2 inch version. Wondering if anyone knows the reason why suddenly it won’t switch on by main button or remote. The TV shows power is there but unable to do anything with it? Help appreciated.
I have the 7″ and the same problem. It’s not picking up any TV signal, either with its own aerial or with the aerial from my main TV, which I know picks up Freeview just fine. And there shouldn’t be any issues with signal strength as the transmitter is only about a mile away.
I have a Nikkai 10.2 inch lcd digital tv, which for very good reasons I was unable to use for 2 years, and which ran for an hour and then gave up with a very faint image remaining which seems to roll slowly over itself as if in slow motion and stop frame! Maplin refused point blank to do anything and gave me totally misleading reasons why it should have done this.They insisted it must have got damp which is impossible wher it was stored in it’s original packaging.
Needless to say Nikkai and Maplin are off my list of suppliers. Has any one any idea what might be the causes of the problem?

Brought mine 2 years ago and now only get sound. To get the picture I have to turn the TV on and off. Remote stopped working too so have to switch on manually.
Use my Nikkai tv monitor with a security camera when I press for the picture to come on it comes then goes straight off trying it on and off during the day then during the afternoon when I try again it stops on until I turn it off when I go to bed any ideas

Hi,I bought my wife one of these Maplin tv’s, normally used for days out etc, but for the life in us, now we want to use it in the bedroom, we cannot find the darn ariel socket, can anyone help please? Absolutly no sign of any socket other than heaphones etc. Thanks

Can you get the screen fixed anywhere
Issue with vertical hold. Only get bottom half of picture half way up the screen. Can I adjust the vertical hold?

I have the 7″ Nikkai Monitor Linked to a security camera. The Image on the Monitor is fine in the daytime but at night time the Monitor fades away and just flickers with a blank screen. Is there a reason for this or does the Monitor need replacing. It was working fine initially for 12 months or so.
