Connect Sky Box to PC Monitor

Posted on 20 May 2011 By TV and Tech 1 Comment on Connect Sky Box to PC Monitor

Question

Can I connect a PC monitor to the Sky HD box using a VGA cable, i.e. the same cable that is used to connect the monitor to a PC?

(Submitted online)

Our Answer

The Sky+ HD box does not have a VGA socket, so cannot be connected directly to a PC monitor.

That being said, you can get an adapter that can convert one of the outputs to a monitor though.

If your PC monitor has an HDMI socket, then connecting the Sky+ HD box with an HDMI is the best option.

If that’s not an option, then you can use the Composite Video socket on the Sky box (that’s the Yellow phono socket). You’ll need a Composite Video to VGA converter box, which at the time of writing costs about £60.

You can order a Video To VGA Converter online.
