Our Answer

If you have an HD-Ready TV set, it means that the TV is capable of showing an HD picture, but it doesn’t have an HD receiver built-in. This means that you will need to connect an HD source to the TV. This could be any of the following:

  • A Freeview HD box (4 channels of HD TV via a TV aerial)
  • A Sky HD box (Over 50 channels of HD TV via a satellite dish)
  • A Freesat HD box (4 channels of HD TV via a satellite dish)
  • A Virgin Media HD box (20 channels of HD via the Virgin cable network)
  • A Blu-Ray Player (for playback of High Definition DVDs)
  • A games console, such as the Sony Playstation 3

You’ll need to connect the HD box to the TV set – you’ll normally do this using an HDMI lead, which is often supplied with the HD box you choose.
